Planting Raspberry Bushes and Digging up History

Last week we tilled the entire bottom half of the garden, getting ready for Fall and the arrival of our raspberry bushes.  The teeny things arrived from Burpee on Friday and today was Planting Day.

We have six plants in all (so far) — three each of two different types.  I am so incredibly excited at the prospect of a berry garden.  Remember, we already have four blueberry bushes.  Mom is also going to bring over a bunch of strawberry runners that have rooted and I plan on planting them in the raised bed outside the kitchen.  Yay!

My excitement skyrocketed when I reached down to pick up a rock in the garden and realized it was an arrowhead!

How amazing!  Violet loved hearing about how a Native American made that arrowhead out of stone and most likely used it for hunting.  Hundreds of years ago.  Right here, on what is now our land.  I love it!

I hope your weekend has been as wonderful as mine has.  Happy Fall, y’all!
