Last night, I was attempting to seduce my husband with food.
After cooking Buffalo Chicken Cornbread for dinner (a great success), I wanted something that would seal the deal. So to speak.
What better thing to bake than Knock You Naked Brownies (p. 260)?
“That oughtta do it!” I thought.
Dave loved it and so this was a definite success. With that being said, there are a few things I would change.
1. We didn’t let the brownies cool long enough before cutting into them. Who can blame us?
2. I didn’t sprinkle powdered sugar on top like Ree told me to. I guess I was in too much of a hurry to bite into the suckers.
3. I’m not much of a pecan lover. I did have some in the freezer, though, and I was happy to use them up. Next time I might try peanuts.
As you can see, we also added a scoop of frozen yogurt on the side. What’s not to love?
Okay, here’s the moment you’ve been waiting for. The ranking. I was laying in bed last night pondering where to place this recipe among its peers.
It kept me awake.
#1: Apple Dumplings
#2: Lemon Blueberry Pancakes
#3: Green Bean Casserole
#4: Mustard-Whiskey Meatballs
#5: Make-Ahead Muffin Melts
#6: Knock You Naked Brownies
#7: Malted Milk Chocolate Chip Cookies
I just took another bite to make sure. Yes. Number 6 it is. I don’t rate based on taste alone. I also consider function. For example, I’ve wished for a while now that I could find some good (and relatively easy) breakfast recipes I like — #2 and #5 fit the bill. #3 replaces a traditional dish with an Out Of This World version — I will never go back! Chocolate recipes are a dime-a-dozen and so that is why they are at the bottom of the list.
Who else out there loves The Pioneer Woman as much as I do?
Okay, that may be asking too much.
Who has tried one of her recipes? Which one did you try and what did you think? I love hearing from you!
