Just Another Great Day

One of my all-time favorite songs is Travis Tritt’s “It’s a Great Day to Be Alive.”  Every time I hear it, I can’t help but smile, tap my toes and bob my head.  I love the message.

Today was one of those great days.  Nothing spectacular happened — went clearance shopping at Kohl’s, grocery shopping at Meijer, lunch at Chick-Fil-A and came home to my overjoyed canine companion.  Like I said, not the most exciting day, but it was full of peace, some laughter and — I’ll admit it — a good deal of retail therapy.

This cute woodpecker was tapping away as we loaded into the car, ready to head into town.

I’m really on a roll with the exercising; usually I do it in the morning, but since I didn’t have time before we went to town I did it this afternoon.  The Wii Fit really works for me.  I love how it keeps track of time spent and calories burned.  It even has an option to set a goal of how many calories you want to burn each time.  My goal is 310 calories, which takes anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour.

Violet likes to pick out what activities I do, and best of all, she does them alongside me!  It makes me feel so good to see my daughter running in place, jumping and even just doing her own thing.

I feel so good when I’m done, how can I not say that it’s a great day?!  🙂

  1. Well, Dear, my way is a lot more expensive and WAY more painful but I’ve found that a good old spinal fusion will take off about 30 pounds—for your old man, anyway. 😉

    • That’s mighty tempting, but I think I’ll stick to good old diet and exercise. I’m already seeing results. 🙂
But hey! That’s a plus for you. Now you get to go clothes shopping…I know how much you love shopping. 😉
